STATEMENT OF THE UKRAINIAN PEACE COUNCIL
ON ACHIEVING A SUSTAINABLE AND JUST PEACE
We, members of the Ukrainian Peace Council, appeal to the international community for solidarity, support, and shared responsibility in establishing a sustainable and just peace in Ukraine.
The full-scale armed aggression launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has resulted in unprecedented human losses, massive destruction of infrastructure, and deep psychological and social trauma for our people. Despite the pain, loss, and burdens of war, Ukraine has preserved its dignity, unity, and unbreakable will to live in freedom, in peace, and among the family of democratic nations of the world.
We strive to be not only a nation that has endured war but also a state capable of healing its wounds and uniting society around universal human values — justice, dignity, truth, and responsibility. Ukraine seeks to make a worthy contribution to global humanitarian culture and to become a reliable partner in shaping a new ethic of peace and humanity. Our people seek not revenge but truth and the establishment of justice. Not retribution, but recovery. Not isolation, but open and sincere dialogue with the world.
We call upon the United Nations, its specialized agencies, the Council of Europe, the European Union, NATO, the OSCE, democratic governments, humanitarian organizations, and all peoples of goodwill to:
We firmly believe that peace in Ukraine is not only a national priority but also a global challenge that offers humanity an opportunity to rethink values, security, and the future of coexistence. We, Ukrainians, strive for peace. We want to be part of a democratic, just, and humane world. We seek partnership, dialogue, and solidarity.
Thanks to the heroism and courage of the Ukrainian people and the support of many democratic nations, the country has withstood the war — defending not only itself but also the peoples of Europe against large-scale aggression. Today, Ukraine deserves comprehensive support from the international community in achieving a sustainable and just peace.
